Having lost the lab assistants, Yamper and Eevee take a rest as the Evolution Pokémon is catching her breath. Meanwhile, Team Rocket have gotten inside the school by disguising themselves as students. While looking for Yamper, Ash and Pikachu witness him with Eevee, and follows them when they see the lab assistants. Seeing the net, Yamper assumes that they want to harm Eevee, and leads her to safety. Although, seeing that she isn't scared and understanding that she's just playing, Yamper checks Eevee out then plays with her, until two of the lab assistants arrive with a net. However, after she mimics his sneezing, Eevee gets discovered by Yamper and becomes hostile with her then tries to scare her away. Having ditched Ash and Pikachu during a walk, Yamper is happily walking near a laboratory, which catches Eevee's attention, as she escapes the lab in order to follow him. However, little did they know, Team Rocket is spying on them as they decide to steal the Pokémon at the playground. After Goh leaves, Cinderace picks Sobble up then tries to calm it down. Seeing Sobble cry, Cinderace is in shock, but Goh tells his best friend to take care of the Water Lizard Pokémon until he returns from school. Arriving at the park, Sobble gets overwhelmed about being left alone with Pokémon it doesn't know and cries, but Goh brings out Cinderace in order to keep it company. Before heading inside, the teacher reminds Goh to keep all his Pokémon at the park, which he understands. Goh tells the teacher that he kept his promise perfectly as Chloe asked him about that, and he explains to her that he promised their teacher that he would come to school whenever it was a test day. Chloe in turn apologizes back to Goh for making him apologize to her then their teacher arrives. Hearing this, Goh apologizes to Chloe as he didn't know that happened to her, but she does tell him that her mom told her that she'll know her path when she finds it.
Chloe explains to Goh that she might not catch her own Pokémon and tells her about the time where her class talked about their goals in life and how their classmates thought she was gonna be a Professor like her dad. While walking to school, Goh asks Chloe about catching a Pokémon as she tells him that she has Yamper but he reminds her that he belongs to her dad. She is then called in by the head researcher as the lab assistants tries to use a Fire Stone and Thunder Stone on her, but she doesn't evolve with either of them, much to the researchers' confusion as to why she won't evolve. Meanwhile, at a Laboratory that specializes in researching Eevee and its evolved forms, a female Eevee tries to imitate a Sylveon and Vaporeon but fails both times, which frustrates her. However, Goh gets cut off by Chloe as she tells him that they have to leave for school then bids Ash, Yamper and Professor Cerise farewell. Professor Cerise and Ash are outside the lab as the latter comments Goh's school uniform, which he appreciates. Soon it eventually ends up at the school that Chloe attends. One day, the Eevee encounters Professor Cerise's Yamper, and ends up getting lost, being unable to find its way back to the laboratory. A certain special Eevee lives there alongside its eight evolved forms: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon and the rest. The Eevee Evolution Laboratory in Vermilion City is a research institute that specializes in Eevee and its evolved forms.
